The client wanted to use her garden mainly for entertainment and relaxation. She was after a low maintenance garden with a contemporary feel and wanted to get rid of the existing lawn and the small awkwardly angled decking.
The solution
Garden Couture Ltd. replaced the existing decking with an extended Red Cedar wood decking thus creating a spacious outdoor dining area with easy access to the kitchen. From the decking area you step down to a large limestone paved area where an all-weather L shaped sofa and a coffee table provide a relaxing seating space. Existing fencing panels were removed from the external garden wall to expose the beautifully preserved bricks. Among the planting, Sambucus nigra ‘Black Beauty’ was chosen to complement the colour of an existing purple-leaved acer while Lonicera fragrantissima provides beautifully scented creamy-white flowers in the depth of winter. Some of the many existing hydrangeas were kept and incorporated in the new planting plan thus reducing the planting budget while allowing the new scheme to have an immediate visual impact.
